‘The Lord bless you and keep you’, from the biblical book of Numbers, chapter 6 verse 24, refers to the text of the Aaronic blessing, which is said and sung as part of the baptismal liturgy of the Church of Scotland. 6:24 subtly altered the light that poured through the windows of the sanctuary of Renfield St.Stephen’s, Glasgow, obscuring or revealing the text depending on the relative qualities of the internal and external light. The intervention asked viewers to be attentive to something that was not immediately apparent, that had to be sought out.
